What Are Migranes

Migraines are one of the most common health problems in the

entire world. In fact, it is estimated that around 13 percent of the world's population suffer with migraines. In addition, migraines affects more women than it affects men, with up to 18% of women in the entire world experiencing them. In contrast, only 7% of men experience migraines.

Now, the experience of migraines varies greatly as reported by each individual. Some people feel a throbbing pain, others feel a searing pain, others also have nausea, fever, sweating, sensitivity to light or sound. In some cases, you can also have blurry vision or disturbed vision. So, what exactly is behind migraines?

Today there are several studies that indicate that migraines may result from different blood vessel functioning and structure. For instance, some studies suggest that an increase blood flow may be the cause of migraines. Other studies indicate that a different blood structure is the one behind migraines One study suggests that anormalities in both the circle of Willis and where the blood flow were most prominent may be behind migraines.

In addition to this studies, there are also environmental factors that contribute and play a role in migraine attacks. These factors include certain foods, allergies to food, hunger, dehydration, physical exertion, bright lights, hormones (many women experience migrates during their periods, or sometimes before), stress, post stress, and changes in sleeping cycle.

It is interesting to note that there are foods then that can start your migraine. These include wheat, yeast, corn, citrus, grain cereals, sugar, aspertame, eggs. It is good, then, for your health and your migraines, to consider eliminating gluten products and artificial sweeteners.

Indeed, it is difficult to find just one reason for migraines. Yet, treatment is still possible. By stimulating your body's ability to produce endorphins, which will help you reduce pain.
